Who we are
TheTechVector (thetechvector.in) is operated by Vaibhav Kulkarni (Individual), New Panvel, Maharashtra, India (“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy explains what personal data we collect from visitors to this website, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
What personal data we collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
- Data you give us directly: your name and email address, if you contact us through our Contact page or email us.
- Data collected automatically: when you visit this site, we automatically collect your IP address, approximate location (city/country level), device and browser type, pages viewed, and how you arrived at the site, via Google Analytics (part of Google Site Kit).
- Cookies: small text files stored on your device — see the “Cookies” section below.
We do not collect payment information, government ID numbers, or any other sensitive personal data. We do not process purchases directly — when you click an affiliate link, you buy from the retailer (e.g. Amazon.in), not from us, and your payment details go to them, not us.
Why we process your data
- To respond to questions, corrections, or feedback you send us
- To understand which content is useful (page views, popular guides) so we can improve what we publish
- To detect and prevent spam or abuse of our contact form
- To track, in aggregate, whether visitors who click an affiliate link go on to make a purchase — this is how affiliate commissions are attributed, but it does not tell us who bought what personally
We process analytics and cookie data on the basis of your consent, given via the cookie banner shown on your first visit. You can withdraw this consent at any time — see “Your rights” below.
Cookies
We use cookies for:
- Essential cookies — required for the site to function (e.g. remembering your cookie consent choice). These do not require consent.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) — help us understand how visitors use the site. Only set if you consent via our cookie banner.
- Affiliate tracking cookies (Amazon Associates and other affiliate programmes) — placed when you click an affiliate link, so the retailer knows to credit us with a referral. Set by the retailer, not by us directly.
You can change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time using the cookie settings link in our site footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser settings.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data with:
- Google (Google Analytics, via Google Site Kit) — for site analytics. Google may process this data outside India, on Google’s global infrastructure.
- Amazon Associates and other affiliate programmes we join — only the fact that a referral came from this site, via the affiliate link’s tracking code, when you click through to their site.
- Our hosting provider (Hostinger) — which stores the site and any data submitted through it, as a data processor on our behalf.
How long we keep your data
Emails and contact form messages are kept as long as needed to resolve your query, and deleted or archived after. Google Analytics data is retained per Google’s own retention settings for this property. If you ask us to delete your data, we will do so within 30 days unless we’re legally required to keep it longer.
Your rights under the DPDP Act
As a data principal under India’s DPDP Act, you have the right to:
- Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erase your personal data, once it’s no longer needed for the purpose it was collected for
- Withdraw consent for analytics/cookie tracking at any time, as easily as you gave it
- Nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity
- Register a grievance if you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data (see below)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at vaibkulk88@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Children’s data
Under the DPDP Act, a “child” is anyone under 18 years of age. This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. We do not run targeted advertising or behavioural tracking aimed at children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption for all site traffic and access controls on our hosting and website admin accounts. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the limited data we hold.
Data breach notification
In the unlikely event of a personal data breach that affects you, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as required under the DPDP Act.
Grievance Officer
In accordance with the DPDP Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Rules, 2021, the Grievance Officer for this website is:
Vaibhav Kulkarni
New Panvel, Maharashtra, India
Email: vaibkulk88@gmail.com
We aim to acknowledge grievances within 7 days and resolve them within 45 days. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you may escalate your complaint to the Data Protection Board of India.
